Les Roberts may run against Arcuri
NY-24- If the name Les Roberts rings a bell, it's because he was a serious contender for the Democratic nomination for Mike Arcuri's congressional seat in 2006. Roberts had a well organized campaign that was outpacing Arcuri in fundraising at the time he stepped out of the 2006 race. Now, after many Democrats and Progressives express their [...]
Our View: Council failed taxpayers
The Utica Common Council has passed this year’s budget which carries a property tax increase of over 7%. Mayor David Roefaro originally proposed an 11% property tax increase with a .5% sales tax increase. After public outcry, the Mayor scrapped the sales tax and proposed a property tax increase of nearly 20%. The public still didn’t buy it. [...]

County Needs “Loyal Opposition”
For the past two years under Michael Hennessy's leadership as Minority Leader, the county saw its first glimpse of a loyal opposition. The status quo and good old boy network called it everything from grandstanding to obstructionism. The fact is that what Hennessy and the minority party accomplished was extremely healthy for government. For [...]

Arcuri Needs To Figure Out Who He Is
D.C. Democrats are scrambling to figure out how to hold onto their majority in the Senate and House after this year’s midterm elections. Beltway consultants are no doubt giving them a hundred different reasons why their popularity is low. Unfortunately, from Mike Arcuri’s actions, it seems they are all wrong. Arcuri ran against a staunch [...]
Guest View: Where is the leadership?
When do the people we elected in November of 2009 start standing up for us? I have heard a lot of complaining and the pointing of fingers, but not any ideas or suggestions on how to stop the bleeding of our budget. How about cutting salaries 10%, eliminating healthcare for part time employees, increasing employee contribution for benefits, [...]
